D.O., Inc. was originally established in July 1977 in Gillette, Wyoming, and was incorporated under Wyoming laws. The owner and President of the Company is Boyd Jackson. The Company is branded as a Chevron Oil Marketer.
Gillette, Wyoming lies in a very unique place, often referred to as the "Energy Capitol" of the nation. Within 75 miles are approximately 15 open pit coal mines, several crude oil producing wells and most recently, the gathering of the methane gas that lies within the coal reserves. The coal reserve, referred to as the Powder River Basin, extends from approximately 75 miles south of Gillette in a northward direction to encompass the Sheridan, Wyoming area and even on north to Colstrip, Montana. Also, there are the Gold reserves in the Black Hills of Western South Dakota, 90 miles east of Gillette.
Gillette and the surrounding area have a population of approximately 35,000. Farming and ranching has been an active industry in Gillette since its beginning, and the railroad was the main reason for the growth of the area in its early years. The Railroad has continued to thrive with the activity the coal mines generate. In addition, there are two
coal-fired power plants. With the growth in population has come a large government presence that operates a school bus department, sewage and solid waste disposal facilities, and a Road and Bridge department that can make most dirt contractors look small.
In 1977, the town of Gillette was in a "boom" as a result of the vast mineral reserve located in the immediate area. The oil industry had been going strong and looked very promising for years to come and the open pit coal mines were beginning to ship coal. These two industries along with the activity of the connecting industries created many opportunities in Gillette. At the outset, the Company invested heavily into the oil industry, servicing many of the exploration and drilling contractors, as well as the dirt contractors, welders, roustabout crews, etc.
With a renewed emphasis in the mining industry, the Company acquired the Petro-Canada and Schaeffer's Manufacturing's Lubrication line of products. This was in addition to increased volume with its Chevron Lubrication accounts. In the late 1990's the energy industry begun the development of vast amounts of Methane Gas that is trapped in the coal seams. The rising prices of natural gas made the product very appealing. With the new exploration of Methane came drilling contractors, welders and various other industries associated with the development of this commodity. One field that D.O. Inc. has been successful with has been with Natural Gas Engine Oils. Supplying large amounts of oil to the compressors responsible for the shipments of natural gas.
The Company currently employs 14 full time people and has an operating fleet of transport trucks, bobtails, flatbeds and pickups. Along with the delivery personnel D.O. Inc. employs a sales staff that is always on top of the industry. Constantly keeping abreast of changes through educational seminars and classes designed to keep them very informed about our products and their usage’s.
